Springsteen-Arcade Fire?

(Thanks to SPIN.com for this)

Last night's surprise appearance by Arcade Fire's Win Butler and Regine Chassagne onstage during the Bruce Springsteen concert in Ottawa -- jamming on the Boss' own "State Trooper" and Arcade Fire's "Keep the Car Running" -- was no surprise to Spin. Springsteen and Butler hooked up last week in New Jersey at a shoot for the December cover, and they sat down for a joint interview with deputy editor Steve Kandell.

"Bruce invited them to play in Jersey, but Win and Regine had to get back to Montreal," says Kandell. "They were hoping Ottawa would work out, and it clearly did."
The December issue of Spin hits newsstands Nov. 27.

October 9th=Rilo Kiley, The Bird and the Bee, and Gran Ole Party

Last night was so very much like a trip back in time, rather a trip back into times, with glitter, bubbles, short dresses, and even face paint, it was like i was in the 50s, 60s and 70s all at once. This opening band of the night was Grand Ole Party, a trio that hails from San Diego, Ca. They put on an amazing show, and i couldn't stop help but compare their singer/drummer Kristin to Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as they were similiar in everything from hair to the razor voice. After biding us farewell, with the promise that she would be saying hi to fans by the merch, Kristin and Co. left the stage for The Bird and the Bee, a two-piece band hailing from the city of glam, Los Angeles. The Bird and the Bee is the only band I have ever seen succesfully use a drum machine and an iPod as part of their live show, and Greg (the guitarist, drum machine guy and iPod user) was stupendous and the crowd showed it with many a "I Fuckin Love You Greg"s were shouted during the evening. Not to say Inara didn't put on an amazing show, as she doned a white dress Alice in Wonderland would adore, Inara George launched into another amazing set, even bringing out a bubble machine to shoot bubbles out to the crowd. After playing "Fucking Boyfriend", you mused to the crowd, "Yknow, everyone needs to let a fuck out every once in a while, right?" and then she and Greg left the stage empty, to be filled by the headliner and the band on everyone's mind, Rilo Kiley. However, it was a good 30-40 minute wait for the headliner, but luckily I was surrounded by a talkative group and we wasted away the time discussing probable Coachella headliners (David Bowie anyone?), Bright Eye's sexuality and of course, how one would go about asking Jenny Lewis (the singer of Rilo Kiley) if we could buy her a drink. Finally Rilo Kiley came on, opeing with a crowd pleaser Portions for Foxes, and soon the crowd was alive and moving. Going through new and old songs, their setlist was a spoonful of amazing music, from the ukulele sing-a-long Ripchord, to the sexual Moneymaker. As a bonus point, as I was leaving and picking up a shirt, I got to chat with Inara and even got a picture with her, so I'm already wishing to see any of these three bands again, heck I'll even fit in with the bands and wear some gold/silver glitter.

Here are some pics from the show, sorry they are crappy, but they were from a camera phone:

Less Noticed

Wow, Tucson music venues just keep surprising me every week. First was the Smashing Pumpkins, then Modest Mouse and now its the Lemonheads. For those of you who are unaware of who exactly the Lemonheads are, the Lemonheads were an alt-rock late 80s-90s band, but most known for their 90s work. Though the disbanded in 1997, when they played a "last gig" at UK's Reading Festival, they reuinted in 2006 and put out a new album simply entitled "The Lemonheads". They're still touring in support of it and what do you know, they're scheduled to play Tucson on December 5th, so do go give their music a listein and maby go check em out live!

ATTention Ladies

Today's the launch of Shop Vogue, the website that makes the magazine's ads interactive. Here you can click through Lily's Burberry campaign and buy the dress she's wearing, and here you can watch Gisele dish makeup tips and pose secrets - all thanks to her sponsors. The website is easy to use and fun to browse, but there's one unexpected quality: It's really informative and gorgeous. The video clips in particular will distract for hours, beautifully shot and almost more exclusive than stories in the magazine - for example, a breathless backstage look at the Chloe campaign shows the way Shalom writhes on set, and the bashful smile of Freja in full use.

Check it here:

Oh and guys, heres a site for you thats got the newest fashions for sale, however the use of the word "sale" is probably a bad choice, well you'll understand once you see the $$$

Awesome Album

Easily one of my favorite albums of all time is Pavement's Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain album, even though most would say Slanted and Enchanted rocks the socks off of Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. Hell, theres also people who insist that Terror Twilight is the best album eva. But for those of you who are like, "Who the hell are Pavement?", Pavement was a 90s indie-rock band led by Stephen Malkmus, one of my favorite front men, who know goes solo, but still is pretty good. However, in my opinon, Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain is one of the best albums from the 90s, so take a listein to one of my favorite tracks from the album(its a 12 way tie), Unfair, then go out an buy it. It will blow your mind, so don't listein to it with headphones on.

Psychedelic Dogs?

Another grrrrreat band coming to Tucson are psychedelic-rockers Dr. Dog. Hailing from the city of brotherly love, Dr. Dog have toured with jam band My Morning Jacket and more recently, Dr. Dog played the Bonnaroo Music festival this past June. They just put an album, We All Belong, back in February, but according to their website a new album will be out February 2008. In the mean time, go see Dr. Dog live at Solar Culture and in the mean time for that, heres a great track of their first album, Toothbrush.

Colored Denim=Newest Trend Flash?

(getting this from http://www.wearethemarket.com/)

"The trend-savvy folks at The Doneger Group send out weekly email "trend flashes" from the streetwear market which we hope to share with you on a regular basis. This week, its all about colored denim."

Doneger's direction includes:
Red most commercial
Skinny and straight leg
Worn slim to spotlight sneakers
Colored shorts for Spring '08

Interesting predictions, eh? A little late on skinny/straight leg, but i'll probably get some colored shorts for next summer. However, no way ever would i wear red denim. Black/Brown/White/Blue im allright for but no red.

PS-Check out this awesome video of some graffeti artists using lights to make designs and animations. Watch it a few times, as it moves prett fast and you'll see something new each time.
